The days of standing in endless queues at grocery stores, arguing with our vegetable vendor over prices and walking from one street corner to another for Palak have long since disappeared. It’s been years since we have started diverting our purchases to super and hypermarkets, which are a one-stop shop for all groceries, fruits and vegetables.
Now there’s all the more reason for our local kirana store owner to get upset as the e-Commerce giant, Amazon – the biggest of them all- has entered the market of online grocery deliveries. Yes, now you can get Amazon to deliver the freshest groceries right at your home. Amazon has long been battling local rivals, Flipkart and Snapdeal to dominate the e-commerce market and they keep innovating themselves to stay ahead in the race. So it’s no surprise that they are entering into competition with hyper-local grocery delivery stores like Peppertap.
Amazon has tied up with local grocery stores as well as leading retailers like Big Bazaar, Reliance Fresh and Food World to get you the best home staples, snacks, fruits, vegetables, beauty and personal care products among others.
Right now, the services have been limited to Bangalore alone and it’s an app-only initiative. For utilizing the services, just download the Amazon Now app and start ordering.
There are two delivery services – Express Delivery(2 hours) and Scheduled delivery. So customers can either have groceries delivered within two hours or at a prescheduled time and can choose from over 6000 products.
The company plans to expand up to 10 cities in the coming year, and faces great challenges as retailers operate on wafer-thin margins. We would have to wait-and-watch how they can up their game and keep up the demands. As of now, if you live in Bangalore, you could try it out as Amazon have always delivered the best quality products with fast shipping and have great return policies.
